Van Driver Rapes Burmese Woman on Songkran Day

The police of Mueang Samut Songkhram police station have arrested a van driver who raped a Burmese woman on Songkran day. He confessed that he had committed this type of crime before.

SAMUT SONGKHRAM – April 21, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; the police of Samut Songkhram police station had detained a Mr. Narongsak Yaitherng, aged 45, who is a van driver from Bangkok to Samut Songkhram in the allegations of raping a female Burmese passenger on Songkran festival.

The police took Mr Narongsak to perform a re-enactment after he was arrested at Samut Songkhram bus terminal together with his white-blue Toyota Commuter van, yellow license no. 14-3716 Bangkok, which the defendant confessed to the allegations and also told police that he had committed the same offense twice before.

On April 16, 2014 Miss Ma (alias), aged 23, Burmese nationality, notified the police that she was deceived by Mr. Narongsak and he had raped her in a deserted alley near Bang Bor – Don Hoi Lord road.

Miss Ma said that before incident occurred she came to see her friend at Samut Songkhram Province and travelled in his van but after all the other passengers got out of the van she was left alone. Then Mr. Narongsak stopped the van and climbed into the back and raped her. After a struggle she managed to escape and was able to ask for assistance from police.

The police took the female Burmese victim to have a physical examination at hospital to be used as evidence where the doctor did finds traces of being raped. The police then inspected all the clues and were able to arrest the van driver at Samut Songkhram bus terminal.

Mr. Narongsak confessed that he raped Miss Ma due to she was a good looking woman which caused him had the sexual desire so he drove the van off the usual route to a deserted alley where he raped her .He thought that Miss Ma wouldn’t notify the police as he had committed this type of offence before and the victims didn’t report it to the police. The police held him where he will wait a court appearance where he will be prosecuted according to Thai law.
