Van Driver Dozes Off Causing Accident In Pattaya

A van driver who was taking some Indian tourists to Rayong fell asleep at the wheel causing it to collide with a lamp post. The tourists suffered minor injuries and the driver broke his leg.

PATTAYA – July 1, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News];- at 15.00 pm. Pol.Col.Gumpol Leelaprapaporn-superintendent of Huat Yai police station- was notified that there was an accident which a tourist van overturned on route no.36 injuring lot of expats who were inside. After notification the police officers were accompanied with Sawang Borriboon Thammasatharn rescue team who rushed to the scene.

 

At the scene they found a silver bronze Toyota van which had collided with a lamp post. The injured victims were 7 Indians, 4 males and 3 females . In addition Mr.Wirat Plengplung the 37 year old van driver had suffered a broken left leg. The rescuers performed first aid on him and the other victims before sending them to the Bangkok Pattaya hospital.

Upon questioning Mr Wirat he told police that he had picked up the Indian tourists from Suwannabhumi airport and was taking them to Klang, Rayong province. It’s expected that Mr.Wirat dozed off as he was driving the van and collided with the lamp post. However the police will question the driver further after he recovers.
