Update Of City Plan To Replenish BeachMarine department revealed the progress of the project to replenish the beach.
PATTAYA – Recently [PattayaDailyNews]; Aekarat Khantaro- director of marine department- revealed the progress of official project to replenish beach sand after Pattaya beach has been continuously eroded.
The erosion of sand beach has accelerated and it’s expected that parts of beach might be faded away within a decade; therefore, the official plans to create about 35 meters of bach along a shore line.
Marine Department had requested 430 budget from the government before they hired Marine Construction Co.,Ltd to run the project. The company has 540 days to operate from December 30, 2014 to June 21, 2016.
Aekarat added that it’s needed 350,000 cubic meters of sand to fill in the beach for 35 meters. In addition, the quality of sand should be same as Pattaya brach. The official has brought the sand from delta in Rayong; however, the amount of sand is insufficient.
However, the operator has searched the new source of sand before they found the new source 10 meters off Ko Lan island. The operator would dispatch the document to environmental department because they would have to take over 200,000 cubic meters of sand.
As a result, the operator needs more 7 months to run the project because the plan is changed. it’s expected that the project would be finished in Feb-Mar, 2017.
