Italy, the 28th of January 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Having already revealed the signing of two time F1 champion Fernando Alonso, the Ferrari team recently presented their new car to gathered sports journalists at their Maranello headquarters in Italy. The F10 will replace last season unsuccessful F60 model which gained the revered “Prancing Horse” a meagre forth in the constructor’s championship and only managed to achieve one race win for the 2009 season.

Former Renault driver Alonso will partner the returning Felipe Massa who suffered life threatening head injuries in a crash at the Hungarian Grand Prix last season. Coupled with the failure of the F60, Massa’s injury crippled Ferrari’s chances of competing for both the driver and constructors championships in 2009 and significantly damaged the previously untouchable reputation of the revered outfit. Stefano Domenicali, the Ferrari team director stated: “The last championship, for different reasons, was not very positive. But now we are dealing with this one, looking to be competitive. This is what Ferrari deserves to be.”

The new F10 car design includes a number of new features on top of the compulsory expanded fuel tank, including; aggressive sculpting with a fin on its airbox as well as a double-decker diffuser and intricate detailing on its front wing end-plates (similar in style to Red Bulls car from last season). The redesigned front wing is constructed to maximise the airflow to the rear of the car, giving the driver increased control and improving the top speed.

The unveiling of Ferrari’s new car comes just days after the Mercedes F1 team revealed their 2010 model, along with their new driver line-up which includes former Ferrari champion and Formula 1 icon Michael Schumacher.
