Unidentified, male corpse found floating in the sea

Inhabitants found the corpse of a Thai man floating in the middle of the sea near “Rong Poh” area. The identified corpse was only wearing jeans. The corpse had been dead for about 10 hours when found. Residents assumed that the body could have been a victim of a teenage gang fight.

Pattaya, 26th Dec 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 15.30 on the 25th Dec 2010, Police Lieutenant General Chayaporn Naatongpiang, Bang-Lamung investigation officer was notified about a floating corpse, found in the middle of the sea, about 500 metres offshore, Moo 1 Bang-Lamung, Chonburi. After the notification the officer went to the scene for further investigation, with the association ‘sawang Boriwoon Pattaya’ rescued team.

At the scene, a lot of residents were gathered watching the sight; the corpse had already been taken on shore. The approximate age of the Thai man was about 25 years. The corpse was only wearing a pair of jeans, without any documents or belongings which could reveal his identity.

With further investigation it was found that, on the same day at about 3.00 am, a villager called to notify a group of teenagers of about 10, running and fighting each other. After that, at about 8.00 am, on the same day, the police was notified by a fisherman, about a body being sighted, caught in the boat’s fishing net. The authorities of the rescued sent a diving team to look for the apparently sighted body, but did not find anything. Until later in the day at 2.30pm the body was sighted by local residents who brought the corpse on to shore.

Momentarily, the police are sending an investigation team to identify the body and find out whether the body was a victim of the teenage fight, reported earlier. The body was sent to the institute for forensic medicine for further analytical to find out the real cause of death before legal action can take place.
