Pattaya,14th April 2010[Pattaya Daily News] At 10 pm Police Colonel Nanthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent) along with his team rushed to investigate an incident  on Jomtien Beach, opposite Soi10, Jomtien Beach Road, Nongprue, Banglamung.

On arrival at the scene, officers found a crowd of tourists gathered round the body of a Thai man [35-40]. There were no visible marks on the body or signs of foul play. The man was wearing black swimwear with a flower patterned shirt and a pair of shoes nearby.

On questioning of witnesses, it was found that the man was seen drinking with his relatives celebrating the Songkran Festivities on the Beach the day before, apparently taking a swim around 8.00pm. Because of the size of the group, the deceased’s relatives’ was not aware the man had disappeared leaving for home without him.

A foreign tourist discovered the man around 10pm as the sea lapped over him, dragging him out of the water and asking local residents to inform the police.

Officers assume the man had gone for a swim after drinking getting cramp or becoming unconscious from the amount of alcohol consumed.  The body will be sent for autopsy to find the cause of death before releasing the body to the relatives for funeral arrangements.
