Unexpected Police Meeting Over Activists Shooting

The Police Major General held an unexpected department meeting following the shooting of red-shirt activists.

Pattaya, 21st April 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 3.30 p.m., Police Major General Tanet Pinmuang-ngam summoned a police meeting regarding the shooting of United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) or commonly known as red-shirt supporters.

The shooting had occurred on April 21 at Pattaya red-shirt camp, injuring two victims – Mr. Prajuab Sudkratoak, 49, the aide of red-shirt leader and Mr. Somchai Deesawad (aka. Sor Dokjik), 45.

The Major General refused to explain the purpose of the police meeting to reporters.

 

However, reporters were able to gather information obtained about the case.

Based on the surveillance cameras or CCTV’s, two Thai men, aged 20-30 years old were the suspects. They came in a dark-coloured Yamaha motorbike without wearing their helmets.  Both wore trousers but the driver wore a white T-shirt while the passenger’s T-shirt was black.

The police had drawn a sketch of one of the shooters and will scan the drawing through criminal records for identification.
