PATTAYA – August 16, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 8:30 p.m., a report of a burglary was received by Pol. Lt. Narong Prajim, Deputy Inspector, Banglamung police station, Nong Preu branch, Chonburi province.

The theft occurred at a rental room at 67/2 Sukhumvit Road, before the entrance of Wat Thamsamakkee Moo 13 Tambon Nong Preu, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province. He rushed to the scene with police team.

Waiting for the police at the apartment were the victims, Ms. Waraiporn Jantanamontri, age 30, and her boy friend, a DJ at a Pattaya pub. Also waiting with them were the apartment owner and several neighbors.

During questioning, the apartment owner told police that while the victims were away at work, a fat, dark-skinned burglar pried open the locked door to room number 306 on the 3rd floor, which Ms. Waraiporn shared with her boyfriend.

The burglar then entered the room and stole items that he stuffed in handbags. He then ran down to his motorbike to escape. But when he reached his motorbike, he was stopped by the apartment owner.

The owner had a gun and threatened the burglar to prevent him from escaping. But the burglar ran from the motorbike toward a nearby road, and disappeared behind Soi Wat Thamsamakkee.

The apartment owner and several bystanders chased him, but could not catch him.

During the chase, the burglar discarded the handbag with the stolen property inside. Later recovered were two computer notebooks, Apple and Acer brands. The bag also had a computer hard disk drive and women’s ornament accessories.

The man had discarded his shirt while running, and also dropped a bag containing tools to break in the apartment. Inside the bag were also many items of the victim’s underwear and bras. The bag also contained a large size dildo.

The apartment owner kept the stolen items to give to the police. He then called the victims to notify them of the burglary and to hurry back to the apartment.

The apartment owner said this burglary suspect resembled a previous burglar from two years ago. That burglar had been arrested for a similar break-in, after the owner showed his photograph to police.

The victim, Ms. Waraiporn, also reported that her rental room had been burglarized two years ago, and a suspect had been arrested. She had changed rooms after that incident. She said if this was the same burglar who had broken into her room again, he may have a psychosis.

Police inspected the motorbike that the burglar left behind, a black-white Honda Click, license number SOR NOR THOR-904 Bangkok.
While lifting the seat of the motorbike, police found many women’s dresses underneath. They assumed the dresses had been stolen from other places. Documents identified the bike’s owner as Mr. Apinan Sakda, address 6/321 Moo 5 Tambon Kratoomrai, Amphur Nongjok, Bangkok. Police kept motorbike for evidence, although they were unsure if the bike owner was the burglar.

About 30 minutes after the reported burglary, police were notified that the burglar had been captured by residents at Soi Wat Thamsamakkee 4. The police hurried to restrain the burglar. They then brought him to the burglarized apartment for victims to see.

The burglar was identified as Mr. Wichart or Chart Cheunkamol, age 34, address 59 Moo 3 Tambon Klongwua, Amphur Muang, Arngthong province. Mr. Wichart confessed to the break-in, and said he acted alone by using a hammer to pry open the door of the vacant room.

He admitted stealing property from the victim’s room, but when he was trying to escape, the owner of the rental room had confronted him with a gun. He was afraid of being shot or arrested, so he ran from the motorbike that he had borrowed from his friend.

Mr. Wichart also threw away the handbag with the stolen property as he was running, but he was finally caught by area residents.

Mr.Wichart told police that he did not have enough money to live, so he stole property to get the money. But Mr. Wichart denied stealing the bras and women’s underwear in his handbag, and claimed that they belonged to his wife.

Upon hearing his denial, the victim Ms. Waraiporn got angry and slapped the burglar’s face. She scolded Mr. Wichart and said that he was thief with a psychosis who couldn’t admit his faults.

The police restrained the victim from further attacking Mr. Wichart. They hurried to take the burglar away before he got lynched by the local people.
