Udonthani Labour Broker Caught Cheating Workers

Crime Suppression Division of Human Trade detained a labour broker suspect for cheating Thai workers going overseas. The total of money cheated is 10 million THB.

On January 20, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; Crime Suppression Division of Human Trade, Pol. Maj. Gen. Chavalit Sawaengpeuch, Commissioner, arrested Mr. Anake Ngernsuwan, according to the arrest warrant of the Criminal Court at J 473/2554 dated April 21, 2011 accused of cheating Thai labourers to work in a foreign country without permission. Mr.Anake cheating 124 workers. The incident occurred during 2009 – 2011.He was arrested in Udonhani province.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Chavalit said that the Crime Suppression Division of Human Trade was notified by the victims that at the beginning of 2009. Mr. Anake who used a false name of “Watcharin Pimjan” tricked the workers. He would take care of all the paper work and arrange jobs for them in Canada, Israel and South Korea. He charged 20,000-85,000 THB per person and told them that it was the standard job application fee. He collected more than 10 million THB. There after he escaped. Mr. Anake, the broker has seven more pending arrest warrants.

The investigating officer believes that there are still more victims that have been cheated by Mr.Anake. Therefore the police would like to inform to anyone who was cheated by Mr. Anake to contact the Crime Suppression Division of Human Trade at Hot-Line number 1191.
