U-Tapao Airport Promotion For High Season

Pattaya Business and Tourism Association (PBTA) is promoting U-Tapao airport this high season to try and stimulate tourism in Pattaya.

PATTAYA – September 9,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at Grand Sole Hotel Pattaya, Chon Buri province, Mr. Sinchai Watthansartsathorn (Chairman of Pattaya Businessmen and Tourism Association) chaired the September 2015 meeting with representatives of government sectors, private sectors and mass media. In this meeting, Miss Suladda Sarutilawan (Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand, Pattaya Branch Office) had explained about the tourism situation for the first 7 months of the year which was found to have decreased by 1-1.3 million.

 

Miss Suladda said that the amount of Russian tourists had diminished because of the domestic economic situation with over 740 charter flights of Russian tourists had flown to Phuket province and Bangkok as well as the amount of Chinese tourists that came to Pattaya city had also decreased. But it was found that Chinese tourists was up by 112%.

 

Presently, PBTA had consulted with government sectors and private sectors to find a way of attracting more tourists to Pattaya. They plan to develop U-Tapao airport to be the 3rd biggest airport in Thailand and will also improve the infrastructure to cope with the extra amounts of people.

 

Recently, Thai AirAsia had launched new flights from U-Tapao to Nanning and Nanchang in China to attract more tourists to Pattaya because the travel time from the airport to Pattaya is only 30 minutes compared with around 2 hours from Bangkok.
