PECHBURI – January 6, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; the police of Thamairuak police station, Phetchaburi province, were still unable to get a confession of any wrongdoing by a man suspected of poisoning his children.

The suspect was identified as Mr. Suwin Pinpechm, age 39, the father of a daughter age 7, and a boy age 5. It was reported on the news that on January 2, they both had drank a soft drink mixed with insecticide prepared by their father.

After drinking the mixture, his daughter died, while his son survived. However, although the police have arrested and interrogated Mr. Suwin intensely several times, he still continued to deny the accusations.

However, Mr. Suwin admited that he had mixed the insecticide in the soft drink bottle. But he threw the bottle away in the bushes beside the house, so that his 2 children would not see the bottle of soft drink, and perhaps drink it while he was not at home. But Mr. Suwin could not explain why he had mixed the insecticide into the soft drink.

Mr. Suwn said he had been gone from his house, and when he returned home, he found his children lying down unconscious and foaming at their mouths.

His daughter died, but his 5-year-old son survived the poisoning, which severely damaged his body. When he regained consciousness, the boy told police that his father had poured the soft drink into the glass, and let him it drink it along with his older sister. She drank first and then later fell unconscious.

While being questioned by police, the young boy asked about his elder sister, and apparently did not know that she had already died.

After hearing the boy’s testimony, the police had asked Petchburi provincial court to issue the arrest warrant to arrest Mr. Suwin, with an accusation of trying to kill other people with predetermined intent.

On January 5, police arrested Mr. Suwin, who is being held in the jail at the police station, where he was repeatedly interrogated by police.

On January 7, 2013 the police prepared to take him to jail at Petchburi provincial court, where he will be investigated seriously to determine the facts, and then will be prosecuted further according to the law if it is warranted by the evidence.
