The two gullible masseurs, who apparently had hang dog expressions on their faces, consequently invited the fortune teller back to their apartment later and were subsequently poisoned and robbed by her.

Pol.Lt.Col. Sumran Thamwattana, Pattaya Police Investigator, learnt of the crime the next morning, on 7 February, at 10.00 am and sent a joint police-rescue team to investigate. Arriving at the incident scene, a room on the second floor of a two-storey Naklua apartment building, the team found two women half conscious on a bed, with some friends administering treatment.

The victims, Miss. Tanomjai kasrithong [39] from Sakonakorn and MissYuppadee Saka [24] from U-dornthani, were then rushed to Banglamung Hospital for emergency treatment. Investigating the premises, police also found some flowers, candles and joysticks in a tray, which were placed near their mattress and also cups of coffee with antibiotics traces left on them.

Miss Suthatip Young Praisong, a niece of Miss Tanomjai, told the police that the two victims had been working at Pattaya Sauna on the previous day when at around 10.30 pm, a woman fortune teller, aged around 58, with fair skin had walked into the shop and approached the victims. The woman said she was from Sukhuthai and a follower of Arjan Noo from Nonthaburi, who was very famous among Thai people. The woman looked at the two victims’ faces and said they looked sorrowful and required a ceremony to change their bad fortune. Because the fortune teller insisted that the ceremony could only be performed at midnight at their home, the two victims agreed to allow the fortune teller to come to their apartment after work.

Miss Suthatip, who also worked at the same sauna, continued telling the police that after they had all arrived at the victims’ room, she had left and gone on alone to her own room. The next day, however, when she knocked on their door, no one answered, which aroused her suspicions. She then opened the door and found the victims had been poisoned and the fortune teller had robbed them of two mobile phones and Bt10,000 in cash.

Police conducted further searches around the room for more evidence and will question the victims when they have sufficiently recovered.
