Spiked Drinks Result in Robbery of Jordanians at Pattaya Hotel

On Monday evening, two Jordanian nationals reported to Pattaya Police Station alleging to have been drugged and robbed by two Thai women at their South Pattaya hotel. Investigations are continuing, with reports indicating that the two women were also guests at the unnamed hotel.

Pattaya, the 26th of July 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 6:00pm on Monday, Lieutenant Colonel Phongsawad Wongwan (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of a drugging and subsequent theft instigated on two foreign tourists.

Reporting to the Pattaya Police Station, Mr. Salahuddin Atallah [30] and Mr. Amer Rashid Abdelihadi [32], Jordanian nationals, explained to Lt. Col. Wongwan that they had recently awoken in their South Pattaya hotel room to find that they had been drugged and robbed by two Thai women.

Mr. Atallah revealed that he and Mr. Abdelihadi had been drinking in their hotel room with two Thai ladies on Sunday evening, awaking almost 24 hours later having been drugged and robbed. Allegedly, the two women were fellow guests at the same hotel and placed crushed sleeping tablets in the beer of the two men before stealing their possessions.

According to Mr. Atallah, the two offenders stole 2 mobile phones, Bt1,300 in cash and a further 50 Jordanian Dinars (Bt2,200). Upon awakening at approximately 5:00pm on Monday, the two men reported the theft to hotel management before being advised to inform police.

Initial investigations revealed that the hotel management had not collected any information regarding the identities of the two women, a requirement, while there was also no CCTV surveillance system present at the hotel.

Investigations will now continue in an attempt to apprehend the now fugitive offenders, while a report has been filed on the case.
