Two Gold Medals In “Optimist” And “Hobie 16” For Thai Sailing Teams

Thai sailors for SEA Games had worshiped the great King Thaksin for moral support before the match. The two teams in “Opitmist” and “Hobie 16” had determined and won gold medals for Thailand.

On 12 December 2007, at 01.00 PM, the sailing competition for SEA Games had started at the bay in front of Ocean Marina Yacht club, Pattaya, Na Jomtien, Sattahip, Chonburi. The wind was around 18 knots during the competition. The Optimist teams had started to compete in three rounds and to see the result on the same day. Thai sailing team had made to the final match to compete with the team from Singapore and managed to gain a victory for the first gold medal in sailing for Sailing Association of Thailand, in royal patronage. The Thai Optimist team were: Mr. Navy Thamasunthorn, Young girl Nopagao Phoonsab, Young girl Patheera Mee-U-samsen, Young girl Jithiwa Thanawitwilas and Young boy Nathawut Pan-jam.

In the next category was quite clear that Thai male in Hobie 16 team would receive another gold medal. Two sailors in the team were: Lieutenant Junior Grade Damrongsak Wongtim and Mr. Sakda Wongtim, two descendants of Mr. Winai Wongtim, famous sailor. The sailing competition will be carry on until 14 December 2007 and the twelve medals will be presented on the same day.

The reporter said that, at around 12.00 noon, Thai sailing teams had sacrificed to the spirits of King Thaksin in order to ask for blessing and moral support in competition. All of them had announced that they determined to win the games.
