Tusker Killed For Ivory & Sex Organs In Kaengkrajarn, Petchburi

Poacher killed elephants for ivory and sexual organs. At least five elephants have been reported shot and cut and burned in Kaengkrajarn forest, Petchburi province.,

Petchburi, January 3, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; The reporter was notified by the locals in Baan Padeng, Kaengkrajarn, Petchaburi province that they had found a wild elephant was killed near a dry canal in the forest at Moo 6 Tambon Padeng.

At scene of the incident the veterinarian Surapong Theeveerapanya, found a male elephant age approximately 3-5 years old weight 4,000 kg dead approximately for 10 days. The body of the dead elephant was full of worms and flies.

The tuskers forehead and chin was cut the it’s teeth and ivory had been removed including the tail and the sexual organs.

Ten meters away from dead elephant the officials found a piece of cloth 10 meters up in a tree. This was the spot the poachers used for shooting the elephant.

Upon investigation the officials found that a jeep with unknown license number had been driving around in the recently surveying the area and visiting the restaurants.

The local people in the area said, that another elephant had been killed near the Karangsarm reservoir, the poacher cut the sex organ and ivory out of the elephant and then burnt it until only bones were left.

Another local dude claimed that three more elephants had been killed in the deep forest Same modus operandi, ivory and sexual organs removed.
