Troublesome Labour Camp Raided

Pattaya officials have raided a labour camp after the police had been called there 3 times in a week for fighting. They found around 100 workers who were working illegally.

PATTAYA – March 18,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 05.30 pm Pol.Col.Trairong Piwpan-deputy commander- was accompanied with Pol.Col.Suktad Pumpanmuang-superintendent of Pattaya police station-, Pol.Col.Thitiwat Suriyachay-superintendent-, Pol.Lt.Col.Ratchapong teasud-deputy superintendent-, Pol.Maj.Col.Purached Rattanawijit, Flg.Officer.Pornradit Jitaramwng-deputy chief of Bang Lamung district- Lt.Winai Duangthong went to clamp down on a labour camp of Worrakit instruction company.

The officers then divided into 5 teams and surrounded the camp where about 1,000 labourers were living. Most of them were from Myanmar and Cambodian and when then saw the police some fled into the woods. Upon inspecting the camp they found around 100 workers who were working illegally without a work permit. The officers then detained them so they can be sent back to their home countries.

Pol.Col.Trairong revealed that there had been 3 fights at this camp in the last week which had caused concern to local people. The police said they will be inspecting all the camps in the local area.
