BANGKOK – May 3, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]: A report of a man committing suicide in the bathroom of his home was received by police, who were dispatched to the scene. The incident occurred at a house on Soi Kusolsin, Sanpawut Rd., Bangna, Bangna.

Arriving officers found the body of Mr. Pisek Thanadejapat, 28 years old, lying in a pool of blood. He had died horribly: on his wrists there were 10 deep cuts on each wrist, and 7 on his neck. His belly had a wound that caused his intestine to spill out, in the manner of a Japanese ritualistic suicide. Police recovered a 1-foot-long kitchen knife dropped near the body.

The victim’s mother, Mrs. Chanidapa, was crying next to his body. From their investigation, police learned that the victim lived with his mom after her divorce from his father. After graduating from school, Mr. Pisek had not worked. He suffered from mental breakdowns and had gone to a lot of hospitals. He had tried to kill himself once.

The incident that triggered his suicide involved a small amount of money. Mr. Pisek had asked his mom for 200 baht. But she didn’t give him the money, because he always went out and made trouble and caused her to worry.

Mr. Pisek got angry at her refusal. So he drank shampoo mixed with water and got a stomach ache. Then he tricked his mom to call a taxi. But when she came back the house, he had already killed himself. His mother believes her son’s mental problems mainly stemmed from his lack of work.
