Trat Police Arrest Gun Smuggling Pig Farmer

The police of Mueang Trat police station have arrested a male employee of a pig farm that smuggled and sold illegal guns to make extra money. The officers found many guns and he confessed that he wanted extra money so he could buy amphetamines.

TRAD – January 19, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12.30 p.m. Pol. Lt. Col. Prasert Ritthirach (Inspector of Mueang Trad police station) together with the detective police team and the head of the community of Tambon Huay Raeng, Amphur Mueang Trad, arrested a Mr. Sinchai Khanphimool, aged 39, address 72/6 Moo 3 Tambon Thoong Nonsri, Amphur Mueang, Trad province. He was caught with the exhibits consisted of 1 short pistol size .22 (no registration number), 1 short pistol size .357, 2 Thai home-made long gun size .22, 9 long gun handles made of wood, 2 iron bars that were used as gun barrels, an electrical welder, a drill and many other items for making guns. All of the exhibits were found at a pig farm, address 72/1 Moo 6 Tambon Huay Raeng, Amphur Mueang Trad.

The officers also tested Mr. Sinchai’s urine and found that it contained traces of drugs so they detained him with all the exhibits and he was sent to be investigated further at Mueang Trat police station.

Upon questioning Mr. Sinchai, he said that he’s an employee of a pig farm where they found the exhibits. He told police he made homemade long guns size .22 to make extra money after he finished work at the pig farm. He would make guns only when he had orders which he could complete very quickly. He claimed that the short gun didn’t belong to him but it belonged to his friend that had brought it to him to be repaired. He would sell the Thai home-made long guns to people that he knew or the customers that ordered off him. Each gun was sold for 2,000 THB but it only cost him 1,000 THB to make. He also said that he would buy and consumed amphetamines when he had sold a gun.

Then the police made a record and charged him with the allegations of producing guns and having guns in possession without permission and consuming narcotic type 1 (amphetamines) then detained him with exhibits and sent him Pol. Lt. Pichit Saikrasoon (police on duty of Mueang Trad police station) to be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
