Transnational Cannabis Dealers Arrested

Pattaya police have arrested a transnational drug dealing gang who were sending cannabis via post to Russia.

PATTAYA-22nd March- [PattayaDailyNews] at 11.00 am Pol.Maj.Gen.Nitipong Niemnoi-commander-, Pol.Col.Pratchaya Prasarnsuk-deputy superintendent-, Pol.Col.Suktad Pumpanmuang-superitnendent of Pattay police station-, Pol.Col.Prapansak Prasansuk-superintendent of immigration police station-, Pol.Lt.Col.Shitdecha Songhong-deputy superintendent of Najomtien police station made a statement about the arrest of a transnational cannabis gang which consisted of Mr.Georgy NYUSHKOV aged 28 from Russia, Mr.Alelsei DRUZHININ aged 26 from Russia, Mr.Aleksei SAMOKHIN aged 26 from Russia and Ms.Kaewjai Tumaporn aged 43 and Ms.Kanokprom Wongsin aged 28.


The officers seized 17 kg’s of cannabis, a digital scale, cannabis plants in 21 pots, 20 post boxes, 2 knives, and a modified bottle to smoke cannabis.


Pol.Maj.Gen.Nitipong revealed that at the end of February customs at Suvannabhumi airport found 10 kilograms of cannabis in boxes which were being sent to Russia from Pattaya, Jomtien and Mab Tapud district.

After notification the police asked the court for a warrant to arrest Mr.Georgy for exporting drugs. They then asked the court in Rayong to arrest Mr.Alelsi on the same charge and they then went to a house in central Pattaya to arrest them.


The police then arrested Ms.Kaewjai who had sold the cannabis for the Russian men and she was caught with 3 kg’s of cannabis in her house before the police arrested Ms.Kanokprom who had sold cannabis for Ms.Kaewjai and she was also arrested with 2 kg’s of cannabis.


Upon questioning the 3 Russian suspects they revealed that they had stayed in Thailand on a student visa and they had ordered the cannabis from Ms.Kwanjai for 20,000 baht. They had packed the cannabis into packets of herbs to disguise the smell before sending them to Russia. They also had cannabis trees growing in their house. Ms.Kanokprom confessed that she had sold cannabis to Ms.Kwanjai that she had bought from a Laos agent.

However, the police officers prosecuted them all according to Thai law.
