Traffic Sign Spelt Wrong

A traffic sign post on a Pattaya road which reads “Pattaya Kiang” instead of “Pattaya Klang” has caused a lot local people to complain because they feel ashamed and it might cause confusion to tourists.

PATTAYA – Recently [Pattaya Daily News]; reporters were informed by local people that a bilingual traffic sign post which is in Thai-English on Central Pattaya road reads “Pattaya Kiang” instead of “Pattaya Klang” which means Central Pattaya. People were afraid might cause confusion to foreigners.


The villager said that this is unacceptable and they feel ashamed. Upon inspecting the reporters found the sign under an overpass bridge in front of a gas station.


Mr.Rattanachai Sutthidechanai-president of tourism and culture of Pattaya- revealed that he had been informed and it was now in the process of fixed. However, the officials apologized for the mistake.
