KOH LARN – 11 May, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; At around 4 p.m. Police Sub Lt. Wattana Pradit, chief investigator of Pattaya police station, was notified that there was a tourist floating at the “Tean beach” area. As soon as the incident was reported, police immediately sent out a team to investigate along with a team of rescue divers.

At the scene, a 71 year-old German man was found. He couldn’t be identified as of now, but police are working on that matter. He was floating faced down on the water and was about 700 metres off-coast. He was only wearing black swimming briefs. Police didn’t find any wounds or physical injuries on his body. The rescue divers pulled the man from the water and brought him to the Lam Bali Hai Pier for further investigation.

Mr. Chatree Songyuangklang, 40, owner of a restaurant that is located near where the incident happened, was questioned by the police. He told the police that while he was taking care of his restaurant, suddenly his worker ran to him and told him that he saw a floating body out on the water.

Mr. Chatree immediately reported to the police. Police then started questioning witnesses around the ‘Tean beach’ area, it was then concluded that the 71 year-old German drowned at around 1PM. It was reported that he went for a swimming session but then disappeared. It’s suspected that it wasn’t murder but rather an accident. His body will now be sent to the forensic laboratory for further investigation. His relatives will be contacted as soon as possible.
