Tourism Police to Launch Foreigner Safety Project

Tourism police will soon be launching a project over Christmas and the New Year in Bangkok to highlight dangers involved with motorcycles.

BANGKOK – December 18,2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol.Maj.GenApichai Thiamat, commander of Tourism police, accompanied with Pol.Col.Achayon Kraithong, deputy commander of tourism police are heading the project. Pol.Lt.Col.Bawonpop Sunthornleka had made the statement about the project to launch, named 3 Wheels Motorcycle to keep increase and raise awareness of safety for tourists.

 

Pol.Maj.GenApichai highlighted the fact that nowadays there was a communication problem regarding how police officers communicated with foreigners following an accident or incident.

Posts will be installed in 5 languages, consisting of English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. The 3 Wheel Motorcycle posts will contain the phone number of police to enable anyone using these designated posts a simple and easy way to communicate with the police. To increase safety, there is also a net provided to store belongings until officers arrive so protect belongings.

 

There is a 24 hour contact facility by calling the number 155.
