Augusta, the 9th of April 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Tiger Woods looked assured of himself as he was probed by the media following the completion of the second round at Augusta. Asked whether he like his position on the board Woods replied with an ear to ear grin; “I do, Yes. I am in the race”

Two Brits, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood, long-time rivals and close friends who have fought their way into the world top 10 lead the chasing pack on an impressive 8-under. The pair, renowned for their humorous and relaxed approach to the game, play regularly together out of tournaments with Poulter stating after the second round; “He (Westwood) took a few dollars off me the other day,” referring to a practice round, “so I would like to get some back.”

Worryingly for the two Brits is Tigers renewed confidence and determination in which he expressed, “I feel very comfortable,” further stating on Friday that he feels he has “control” of his golf ball. Shooting a 70 in the second round, two shots worse than his opening round score, albeit on faster greens and tougher pin placements that made others cry.

60-year-old Tom Watson shot an impressive 67 in the opening round but was undone by the deceiving Augusta course finishing a bogey-birdie second round for 74. Fred Couples was another veteran that couldn’t handle the pace following his tournament leading 66 with a disappointing 75 in the second round.

Phil Mickleson, Ricky Barnes, K.J. Choi and Anthony Kim are all equal with Tiger on 6-under going into Saturdays Third Round where they will attempt to overhaul the British leaders.
