.Mr. Kamphol Tansatja, Director of Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, Na Jomtien District, Sattahip, Chonburi, organized the grand Loy Krathong Festival for “Pre Loy Krathong in the Lake” by providing a display of the history of Loy Krathong, which involves seeking atonement from the Mother of Water. This year, thousands of foreigners, especially Russian tourists, joined in the festival, which was even larger than last year’s event.

Activities included a procession of Miss Noppamas with actors and actresses dressed in costumes representing the Sukothai style in order to exhibit, for foreigners, Thai culture of the past and present. This was one of the biggest shows in the Far East, with beautiful decorations and highly advanced light and sound technology, which was quite impressive to all who attended the Loy Krathong Festival.

Mrs. Kwan-wan, General Manager, declared that so many tourists joined this year’s festival because it had been publicized to many tour operators. In the past, tour operators have requested that Nong Nooch Village organize a Loy Krathong Festival. That, combined with good publicity, made this year’s event very successful.

Mrs. Kwan-yuen explained that tourists had the opportunity to understand the meaning of Loy Krathong, in Thailand, and to learn that floating a lantern in the sky connotes progress and prosperity, as well.
