Thieves Cut Telephone Cords As Learned From TV

Out of four thieves, three were arrested for illegally cutting telephone cords and claimed they had learned it from TV.

Pattaya, 21st April 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 3 a.m., as Police Sub-Lieutenant, Noppadol Intarasorn was patrolling Banglamung area, he was informed that various Saraburi men were cutting telephone cords at Pondtep Village 5, Moo.2, Nongplalai, Banglamung, Chonburi.

At the scene the police spotted a Ford pick-up truck (number plate: Por-Kor 9241, Chonburi) with four men loading TOT telephone cords onto the vehicle.

When the thieves saw the officers, they bolted immediately. The police chased the suspects along Road 36, Kratinglai, Rayong and eventually captured three while the other one escaped.

The arrested suspects were (1) Mr. Buntam Somsak, 53; (2) Mr. Pondtep Darapong, 36, and (3) Mr. Somrak Somsak, 15. Mr. Golf (unknown real name), 24, had escaped.

Evidences found on the thieves included 3 knives, 2 pliers and 20-meter telephone cords.

According to their confession, the suspects learned from a television program that selling stolen telephone cords could be a good source of income. Hence they have been cutting cords mostly in Banglamung area. The money earned were to be divided among themselves.
