PHUKET – June 18, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Tah Chat Chai police received a call from the Imam of the mosque at 6am this morning, informing them of the theft. He said that two padlocks on the donation box had been cut off, apparently with bolt cutters.

He told them that the thief took only notes from the box, leaving the coins behind. Normally, he added, the box was opened once a year just before the Muslim fasting period of Ramadhan. In past years it usually contained at least B40,000.

There were no security cameras in the area and no one witnessed the theft. Police took fingerprints and will use these in an attempt to identify the thief.
