Pattaya, the 6th of December 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 11:00pm police Captain Jamrat Thongjinda (from Pattaya City Police Station), received a report a thief has been captured at a house on Soi 6 off the Thepprasit Road in Pattaya. A team of officers went to investigate.
Police officers arrived at the scene, which is a 3-storey townhouse with a shop on the ground floor and accommodation on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The owner of the house Mr. Ron Weaver [39] and his Thai wife Mrs Nanthaphak Jitaraman [25] own and operate a remote control car shop on the ground floor of the townhouse called “Mini R/C Nano Trek Racing.” The couple live upstairs on the 2nd and 3rd floors. When police entered the premises they found that Mr Weaver and his wife had detained the suspect and noticed that the room was in total disarray.

Officers found out that the offenders name was Mr Suriyan Polu, listed as a resident of Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand. He was found in possession of a mobile phone and a small Buddha figurine which belonged to Mr. Weaver. The suspect Mr. Polu had blood streaming down his face coming from a cut over his eyebrow, sustained in the confrontation with Mr. Weaver.

Under interrogation Mr. Polu declared that he had recently been released from prison, having no luck in his search for a job he decided to ask a friend to assist him in breaking into a house with the intention of stealing some items that he could sell. He explained that he and his friend had driven around looking for a suitable location to commit their offence, eventually settling on the house of Mr. Weaver. Mr. Polu stated that his friend and he had entered the house through the back door managing to go upstairs whilst the owner and his wife were on the ground floor.

Mr. Weaver informed the police that when the incident occurred he was eating with his wife in the shop on the ground floor, before they decided to go upstairs to the bedroom to sleep. At that point he discovered the two men stealing his possessions deciding to approach them, whilst shouting to his wife to call the police. Mr. Weaver successfully detained one of the offenders by hitting him in the face knocking him to the ground, his accomplice managed to escape during the scuffle. As a result Mr Polu was cut quite badly above the eye, whilst Mr. Weaver seemed to have injured his wrist as a result of the punch.

The police took Mr. Polu back to the station for further interrogations where they will attempt to reveal information regarding the second offender enabling them to arrest him.
