The Realm of the Supernatural

Are Ghosts real? Well the answer to this is embroiled in ambiguity. We have all heard at some time in our lives a number of ghost stories with many of them managing to send shivers down our spines, scaring us witless. Any facts that support the real presence of ghosts are all based on mere eye-witness accounts. There has been little concrete evidence to support the stories.

Many people have said that they have felt the presence of ghosts around them. But have they, or was it just imagination? We should have the ability of making our own conclusions. How the belief in ghosts came to be is not known, as every culture in history has held a belief in life after death, with the worshiping of spirits being an integral part of these heritages. The Egyptians had a strong belief in life after death.

When we are asked ‘are ghosts real’ or ‘do you believe in ghosts’, we immediately think about the last scary movie we saw. The fact is, mainstream movies have distorted our view on ghosts, seeing them now as dangerous entities that are out to cause physical and mental pain. This was not always the case, but most ideas about friendly ghosts have been discarded many years back.

As was said earlier, the only proof of existence is the accounts of people who have claimed to have seen or experienced them.  Many photographs do their rounds on the internet which show the presence of ghosts, but nobody knows whether they are genuine or not. With the kind of software and tools these days, it is now possible to fabricate pictures, making them look real and to differentiate between the real and the fake has become much harder.

People who claim to have seen ghosts or entities, need to offer more detailed proof of their encounters as this is a very gray area. When a story of this kind hits the media, the person behind it receives amazing publicity and the story gives way to the imagination of the public and they go crazy, speaking of which there are many mental disorders which cause hallucinations and this makes it harder to genuinely believe them.

Images of ghosts and similar entities can created from a Hollywood basement cheaply and can be used to haunt people from every corner of the world, which is wrong as these filmmakers are playing on a primal fear of the unknown in order to sell more tickets.

The content so far, may seem biased and skeptical about the existence of ghosts, but is primarily due to the lack of concrete evidence. Many stories and old wives tales have been passed round over the years and to believe them all requires unwavering faith. Spirits were believed to have been protectors of mankind in the old days, but where there is good, there is also bad and this has instigated a fear of the simple presence of a potential ghost. We are all surrounded by positive and negative energies. The positive provides us with an environment where we tend to believe in the miracles of nature. The presence of positive energies makes us appreciate the beauty of nature and marvel at the wonders of the world, but there are negative forces which are responsible for creating a haunted feeling in the atmosphere overpowering the positive in our minds, compelling us to believe in the negative and scary elements in nature.

Haunted locations are believed have ghosts or other supernatural beings roaming around the area. There are many haunted locations around the world. Haunted places are believed to house ghostly and supernatural beings, with reports of ghosts and spirits being seen to appear and disappear.

The most haunted destination in England is reported to be Pluckley in Kent. Phantom coach and horses, a highway man, and a Colonel are believed to haunt this village. IN 1998, this village was recorded in the Guiness Book of Records as being the most haunted village in England. The most haunted house is considered to be 50 Berkeley Square, which is famous for housing ghosts, poltergeists and demons. Haunted houses are supposed to be centers of supernatural or paranormal occurrences.

Many airfields which surround England are believed to be inhabited by the ghost of the ‘few’, the RAF pilots of the Battle of Britain, during the Second World War with paranormal activity occurring in the surrounds of the airfields. CCTV had once captured a white figure near Belgrave Hall in Leicester. Some believe that the white figure was that of the daughter of one of the former owners of the house.

The very famous Windsor Castle which has been the home of the royal families of Britain for 1000 long years, have had people reporting to have seen the spirit of Queen Elizabeth 1st and also of Anne Boleyn, the mother of the Queen, run across the corridors in the castle. Other reports of ghosts have included King George VI, William Gladstone and Andrew, Duke of York.

Bomere Pool located near Bayston Hill is believed to house the ghost of a Roman soldier seen every Easter Day in search of his love. Judges, Lawyers and policemen have reported seeing a ghost in the main criminal court in London known as the Old Bailey on days of important trials.

These are just some of the haunted locations. You can choose to believe or disbelieve. I for one believe as I have seen ghosts on more than one occasion and hope never to encounter them again.
