The 20th Suphannahong National Film Award Arrangements

Details of the arrangements for the 20th Suphannahong National Film Award were announced yesterday. This is one of Pattaya’s most prestigious events, attracting great interest from film enthusiasts from all over the region as Thailand makes its mark on the international film scene.

Pattaya, 24th February 2011[Pattaya Daily News]: At Central Festival Pattaya Beach, Mr. Itthiphol Khunplmue, Pattaya Mayor, and Mr. Jaruk Kanjaruk, National Film Association Confederation Chairma, opened the press conference together for the 20th Suphannahong National Film Award. The final 5 movies that were being entered to compete for the 16 award categories were announced.

Mr. Jaruk Kanjaruk revealed that the Confederation committee have decided to hold the 20thSuphannahong National Film Award Competition on 6th March 2011 at 4.00 pm in Pattaya. The SFX Cinema theatre has been selected as this year’s venue. Two people have received honorary Suphannahong Awards this year, Khun Jarern Iemphungphorn and Khun Somsak Techaprasit for their dedication to work for Thai movies and for social engagement. Moreover those persons had the spirit to entertain and made popular movies acceptable to the population.

Mr. Itthiphol Khunplmue said “I feel glad and very honoured for Pattaya to have the chance to be part of such a significant organization. It is also beneficial to open the different point of view to tourists that Pattaya is much more than being just a resort”.

For consideration under 16 award categories the following were included: The best affect creating, The best technique of makeup, The best costume design, The best art direction, The best music, The best soundtrack, The best sound recording and sound mixing, The best film sequences, The best cinematography, The best screenplay, The best associated actress, The best associated actor, The best Heroine, The best Hero, The best director, and The best film.

In conclusion, the top 5 Thai films that have been selected are:

1st Chuafa Din Salai (Eternity) to compete in 14 award categories

2nd Nakhprok to compete in 12 award categories

3rd Rao Song Sam Khon (Three of Us) to compete in 9 award categories

4th Kuan Mun Ho to compete in 8 award categories

5th Insri Daeng (Red Eagle) to compete in 6 award categories
