Terry Blackburn, CEO of Ensign Media, the event organizers, said: “This was the fifth year of the Thailand Property Awards, and the standard of competition just gets better and better. This year we received more nominations and more entries than ever before and that speaks volumes about the state of the property and real estate industry in Thailand.”

Concentrating on the Eastern Seaboard, the Best Villa Eastern Seaboard was once again won by Horseshoe Point, who also won the award in 2008 and 2009. Horseshoe Point actually scored a triple whammy, this year, also winning the Best Villa Thailand award and Best Green Development; the latter for the second time. The development won the Best Villa awards on the basis of the quality of its amenities, its well-planned layout and very impressive commitment to community outreach and environmental issues. Runners up included the villa developments at Silk Road, Chaiyapreuk 2, and Baan Talay at Bang Saray; both Highly Commended.

The Best Condo award went once again to Northpoint; no great surprise there. Raimon Land’s premier Pattaya property also won in 2008, the year that Raimon Land won the Best Developer award, though this year the company was narrowly beaten to first place, only being highly commended. Northpoint won the coveted award on the basis of its design excellence and professionalism on a superb location with outstanding views. Runners up included Montrari and Nova Ocean View who were accorded the Highly Commended accolade.

Best Agent Eastern Seaboard went to Colliers International who have taken over where CBRE left off. Highly Commended were Premier Homes and Town & Country. Awards that Clayton Wade and Cees Cuijpers, respectively, will be well pleased about.

The nationwide awards were as follows: the Best Developer Thailand was awarded to Golden Land, who narrowly beat Minor International and Raimon Land to the post. Golden Land won the award because it had achieved a good track record in construction and marketing of a diversified portfolio of properties. Best Villa Thailand, as already stated, was won by Horseshoe Point. Best Condo Thailand award went to St Regis Residences, chosen for its excellent quality and use of space, optimising an excellent site and with uncompromising standards of luxury and service; considered overall to be an outstanding development. The Best Shared Ownership Development award went to Beach Republic due to its being a very unique concept and a very strong and attractive brand with a most innovative use of space, excellent location and very good value for money. Banyan Tree and Absolute Bangla Suites were Highly Commended.

The Best Commercial Development was won by Crystal Design Center, who offer an original design concept executed to a very high standard and well-received by the market. Park Ventures and Hafele were Highly Commended. The Best Green Development was considered to be Horseshoe Point, as already mentioned, because it has a strong environmental programme that continues to be developed, showing considerable progress over last year’s already high standard. Sukhothai Residences and Baan Yamu were Highly Commended in this category. Finally, the Best Boutique Developer award went to Absolute, considered to have a good track record of completing good quality projects in Phuket during a difficult period in the market. Astudo came Highly Commended in this category.

In the field of marketing and design, Baan Yamu won the Best Architectural Design award due to its interesting design features, good planning and excellent use of space on a challenging site. The Best Interior Design winner was The Estates Samui, praised for its excellent selection and use of materials, attractive designs and quality of execution. The Best Agent Website award went to CBRE, considered to have a user-friendly design, plus an informative and easy to navigate website. The Best Development Website award went to The River on the basis of its speed, ease of use, wide range of features and attractive design.

So the holding of breath is over for another year. The prestige of winning or gaining the Highly Commended accolade of the Thailand Property Awards will do much to bolster the winners’ confidence and make selling their properties considerably easier, as well as granting kudos to those lucky enough to live in the respective residences.
