Port coach Sasom Pobprasert had his full-strength squad to choose from. Their star players Patara Tanganurat, Pongpipat Kamnuan and Jirawat Makarom all started the match with Pipat and Edvaldo G. Pereira in attack.

BEC, meanwhile, welcomed back Kittipol Papu-nga from injury and Jean Ariain Akassou from suspension while Wuthichai Tathong partnered Anon Sangsanoi up front.

Port got off to a quick start and nearly took the lead in the first minute. Edvaldo threw away a good scoring chance as he misjudged a cross from Alif Poji.

It was BEC, however, who took the lead in the 14th minute when Wuthichai headed home a right cross from Noppol Pitafai into the top corner.

Hoping to put the match back on level terms, Port applied more pressure but BEC defense held firm.

Their effort paid off in the 23rd minute. After good work down the left flank, Jirawat Makarom put in a perfect cross for Pipat to score. The shot was bundled out by BEC goalkeeper Siwarak Tatesoongnern and fell to an approaching Edvaldo who headed in from close range.

The score was 1-1 after extra-time.

BEC’s fifth penalty taker, captain Thariti Nonsrichai, hit the crossbar and it was Port striker Pipat Tonkonya who sealed the match with his decisive strike much to the delight of Port supporters.

The first four players from both teams all converted their chances.

Along with the one-million-baht prize money, Port have also earned a ticket to play in the AFC Cup next year. BEC received 500,000 baht.
