Thai Woman To Be Executed For Smuggling 3 kg Meth Into Saigon

June 26, 2012: Saigon, Vietnam Ms. Preeyanooch Phuttharaksa a Thai colleage student from Bangkok, 23 was convicted to death for drug trafficking.

It was reported that Ms. Phuttharaksa was paid 2,570 USD by a Nigerian trafficking ring to transport 3.000 gram of methamphetamine from Benin to Vietnam. She was arrested at Saigon airport last October.

Vietnam has some of the world’s strictest drug laws. Possessing, trading or trafficking more than 600 grams of heroin or 20 kg of opium is punishable by death. The Thai woman Bangkok was arrested at the Saigon airport arriving from Benin, West Africa carrying methamphetamine 3 kg hidden in her luggage.

Ms. Preeyanuch confessed that she was hired for 50,000 THB by a Nigerian drug gang to bring in the “Ya-ba” to Vietnam last year.
