Pattaya, 23 May 2011 : According to Banglamung police, Lumpoon Noy Gay Bower, 55 used to live in Park Panung, Nakorn Srithamaratch with her Thai husband.

However she then took an overseas job and moved abroad to live, leaving her Thai husband behind, the police reported.

Lumpoon later married a foreigner and changed her surname.

When Lumpoon got ill, she decided to return to Thailand for medical treatment in the care of her 35-year-old sister, Sompong Tohjumpa.

Sompong said that initially Lumpoon was admitted to Chonburi hospital which provided her free treatment as an underprivileged orphan.

However, due to the severity of her condition, Lumpoon was required to transferred to Banglamung hospital but unfortunately Banglamung hospital declined her of free treatment, Sompong said.

The hospital staff said they don’t have special consideration for orphans and they only provide complimentary treatment for those with a Gold Card, Sompong added.

Lumpoon contacted the Citizen Local Family Data Centre to find out that her former family-in-law had registered her dead on 16 November 2007.

Sompong contacted the police for assistance to verify her sister’s identify using her passport and relevant documents, in hopes of being admitted to Banglamung Hospital after getting a Gold Card.

The police believe that her ex-husband could have reported her dead or missing since he did not hear from her after a period of time.

The next step is to prove her identity and hope that she could obtain a Gold Card for medical treatment, an officer said.
