UDON THANI – May 8, 2013; the police of Meuang Udon Thani police station arrested Mrs. Chaweangwan Sriratchana, age 44, at Varesine 2 village, Udon Thani province.

After a police investigation, Mrs. Chaweangwan is accused of murdering her foreign husband and throwing away the corpse in the forest.

On April 14, 2013, the police were notified that there was the corpse of a foreign man in the forest with a naked body, which was rotting and gave a bad smell all over the area. Police assumed that he had been dead for not less than 1 week.

Officers also found medicine for asthma and a pair of slippers beside the corpse. The corpse was identified as Mr. Kunther Kruberg, age 70, nationality Austrian.

After they found the corpse of Mr. Kunther, the police investigated Mrs. Chaweangwan, the wife of the dead man. She claimed that on April 5, 2013, she and her husband went to visit her seriously ill father at her younger sister’s house, and they stayed overnight.

Then they returned to their house. But later she went back to visit her father alone again, and slept there. Mrs. Chaweangwan claimed that when she returned home the next day, she didn’t see her husband in the house. His passport was also lost.

Mrs. Chaweangwan then looked for her husband all over Udon Thani, but could not find him. So she notified the police and reported him as a missing person on April 8, 2013. A short while later she smelled the rotten smell from the forest behind the house. When she went to check, she found the corpse of her husband.

After investigating Mrs. Chaweangwan, the police didn’t believe all of her testimony, because the result of autopsy revealed many suspicious points on the victim’s body. There were also many bruise marks on his body, as if he was hit with a hard object.

The witnesses also indicated that Mrs. Chaweangwan and her foreign husband always got into violent quarrels and fighting. Before Mr. Kunther disappeared, people saw him and his wife quarreling about the daughter of Mrs. Chaweangwan, who had a behavior of stealing. After that, no one saw her husband anymore.

The police also discovered that Mrs. Chaweangwan had lived with her Austrian husband for a long time, but they never had sexual relations because her husband had congenital disease. This made Mrs. Chaweangwan have one more German “husband,” who always flew from Germany to see her.

However, for this case, Mrs. Chaweangwan still denied all the accusations, and will talk about the facts of this case only in court.
