PATTAYA – January 25, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 8:30 p.m., a report by residents that a man was crying for help from a rental room in their building was received by Pol. Col. Supphachai Phuikaewkham, Superintendent, Banglamung police station. He rushed to inspect the scene with the detective police team and the rescue officers of Sawangboribultharmmasatharn Pattaya foundation.

The incident occurred in a room on the 4th floor of a building in Tambon Nong Preu at the beginning of Soi Wat Tharmsamakkee 6. The first floor of the 5-story building houses a Wassana stationery store, while the upper floors have monthly rental rooms.

In room C-7, police found traces of fighting and a seriously injured Thai man lying in a pool of blood on the floor. The man had been stabbed under his left breast three times and was barely breathing. The unidentified victim appeared to be between 35 to 40 years old. The rescue officers performed first aid and rushed him to Banglamung hospital.

Police questioned the building’s owner, Mrs. Wassana Waewpradit. She said that before stabbing occurred, several neighbors ran to tell her that someone in a fourth floor room was crying out loudly in suffering to ask for help.

Mrs. Wassana ran to the room, but found it was locked from the outside. She called her husband to use the iron-cutting machine to cut the knob of the door. They entered the room and saw the victim lying down on the floor and breathing softly, so she notified the police.

She said the victim was only staying in the room for a few days. Other building residents said that there had been three men knocking on every door of the fourth floor rooms, and asking for someone named “Gift.” A short while later, a resident said he heard the injured victim crying out to ask for assistance. Police will check the building’s CCTV for evidence of the victim’s assailants.

As for the motive for the stabbing, police speculated it may be because of a betrayal in an illegal business, or possibly a love affair. The three men had apparently intended to kill the victim in his room. Police will wait for the victim to recover to question him about reason for the assault.
