Pattaya, 29th March 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 6 p.m., Police General Lieutenant, Chaiyaporn Tongnapieng, Inspecting Officer of Banglamung Police Department, Chonburi was informed that there has been a robbery at Suporn Jewellery Shop located opposite to the patrol police station (at 245/1, Moo.5 , Naklua, Banglamung, Chonburi). Police General Lieutenant, Chaiyaporn went to the crime scene along with Police General, Somnuek Janket, Superintendent and other police officers.

The jewellery shop was a four-storied building, located opposite to the patrol police station. The victim was Mrs. Wantanee Supasahasrangsi, aged 75, who identified herself as the sister of Mr. Sansak Jaroonngampichet, a former Deputy Minister of Public Health. She said that while she was serving customers with her niece, an average-built and short-hair Thai man approached them. The suspect was reportedly around 30-35 years old, wearing grey round-collar shirt and grey-black knee-length pants coming to the shop with his red-white motorbike (Yamaha-Meo, unknown number plate). He said that he wanted to buy a ring for his girlfriend. The suspect chose a gold ring that was worth about 10,000 Baht. But then he left without making any purchase from the shop.

The victim reported that the suspect came back. He wanted to see the same ring and asked about the price of the ring. The suspect said that he needed to go to an ATM to withdraw more money. The suspect left the shop but came back again and asked for the same ring. This time, the suspect ran away with the ring while the shop owner was busy serving another customer.

The police informed the patrol police station about the suspect but they had not found him. However, the shop’s security camera recorded images of the suspect and his bike. The police speculated that the suspect was not a professional thief.
