BANGKOK – Thai Premier League 2009 Champions Muang Thong United (MTU) ended their title-winning campaign with an impressive 2-0 win over inaugural AFC Champions League finalists BEC Tero Sasana at Thunderdome stadium

Muang Thong United celebrated the championship trophy and also finished on a high note by beating BEC Tero Sasana 2-0.

Teerasil Dangda scored for the Kirins in the 25th minute with a superb volley before Wisarut Phannasri made it 2-0 in the 82nd minute , netting MTU’s 48th goal in 30 matches as the big-spending Bangkok side preserved their unbeaten home record.

BEC Tero coach, and former Thailand international, Tawan Sripan came on for the final few minutes.

BEC’s Anon Sangsanoi finished as the league’s top scorer with 18 goals but Muang Thong’s win meant they preserved their unbeaten record at home for the full season.

New Thailand national coach Bryan Robson and assistant Steve Darby attended the match.

MTU, who have gone from Division 2 to Thailand’s top flight champions in just three seasons, will be hoping to book their ticket to next year’s AFC Champions League via the play-offs, while BEC Tero are also still in the hunt for continental action next year with Tawan Sripan’s side talking on Thai Port in the FA Cup final on Friday with the winners earning a place in the 2010 AFC Cup.

Chonburi, who were knocked out of this year’s AFC Cup at the quarter-final stage, defeated the FA Cup finalists 2-1 to finish second title in the standings for this season again as last year while the FAT had ordered Chonburi to play the match at a neutral venue after crowd trouble during a match with Chula earlier this month.

Bangkok Glass ended their domestic season with a 5-2 hammering of relegated Nakhon Pathom, who will be joined in the First Division next season. by Sri Racha and Chula United .

The relegation battle goes down to the wire. Pattaya up to the challenge in their must win match against Chula. Bangkok United scrape through with Navy Rayong, Sri Racha go down despite winning in Saraburi.

Sri Racha beat Osotspa M-150 3-1 at Saraburi stadium but went down due to a worse head-to-head record than Bangkok United, who escaped by the skin of their teeth with a 1-1 draw at Samut Songkhram.

Bangkok United, who were formed from 2006 champions Bangkok University, finished level on 30 points with Sri Racha but maintained their top flight status courtesy of a better head-to-head record against the Blue Marlins, who were competing in the Thailand Premier League for the first time.

Chula’s fate was sealed at Nong Prue ground when they were beaten 2-1 by Pattaya United.

Elsewhere, former champions Provincial Electricity Authority beat the Navy Rayong 4-1 at Ayutthaya stadium while Bangkok Glass thrashed hosts Nakhon Pathom FC 5-2 at Kampangsang stadium and TTM-Samut Sakhon finished with 1-1 home draw against TOT FC
