Thai Oarsmen Grab Gold Medal In 24th Sea Games

Thai oarsmen had turned a new page in Canoe-Kayak history to win gold medal on the first day of competition in 24th SEA Games.

On 12 December 2007, at Maab Prachan reservoir, Chonburi, it was the first day of the Canoe, Kayak and Long boat for gold in 24th SEA Games 2007. Thai Canoe-Kayak team had done the best performance ever, for the first time in Thai history, to win the gold medal with the beautiful collective scores.

The team that had made to the top in two oarsmen category for 1,000 meters were Mr. Nathaphon Yatra and Mr. Piyaphan Phaophan. It was the first accomplishment in this type of sports in Thai history to win gold medal.

Besides, Thai team also won: Two silver medals in 1,000 meters women Long boat racing and four male Oarsmen in 1,000 meters Kayak racing. Three bronze medals in single male Oarsman 1,000 meters Canoe racing, single male Oarsman 1,000 meters Canoe racing and two male Oarsmen 1,000 meters Canoe racing as well.
