Thai Monarch to Appear in Public on Occasion of 82nd Birthday

A statement made by the Royal Household Bureau (RHB) announced that His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej is scheduled to appear in public to mark the momentous occasion of his 82nd birthday on December the 5th.

Bangkok, the 30th of November 2009 [Pattaya Daily News]: The statement released by the RBH on Monday said that the monarch will grant an audience to members of the royal family, civil servants and members of parliament at the Grand Palace’s Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall on Saturday morning.
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn has been delegated by His Majesty the King to perform the various religious and royal ceremonies that will be held late Saturday and early Sunday morning. Further to that the Crown Prince will grant an audience to members of the diplomatic corps on behalf of the King at the Dusidalai Hall, Dusit Palace on December the 8th.

The King’s birthday eve speech to the Thai pubic scheduled for the 4th of December at the Dusidalai Hall has been postponed along with the annual oath-taking ceremony and the “Trooping of the Colours” parade, which was earlier scheduled for Wednesday the 2nd of December.

His Majesty the King, the world’s longest reigning monarch was admitted to the Siriraj Hospital on September 19th with a lung infection and fever. His condition has improved considerably according to statements made by the Royal Household Bureau, however he still remains hospitalised at present.

King Bhumibol has made two public appearances since he has been admitted to hospital. Appearing in public on the momentous occasion of his 82nd birthday is sure to please the adoring Thai public who have been grief stricken since his admittance to hospital.
