Thai Man Arrested After He Set His Girlfriend On Fire

A jealous boyfriend soaked his girlfriend in gasoline and set her on fire. He was finally arrested in a field where he was hiding. He told police he only wanted to scare her but the fire went out of control.

UDONTHANI – January 16,2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 10 o’clock, in the front of Rompothong radio station, Muang Udornthanee police station, Pol.Lt.Col.Terdsak Boonchot, director of detective department, Pol.Col. Kowit Jarernwattanasak, director of the police station, with Forest Roses detective officers announced the arrest of a Mr.Baramee Seekul, 42 years old, for attempted murder. They seized a red Honda Sonic motorcycle, no license plate, and a bottle of oil fuel.

Pol.Col.Kowit Jarernwattanasak, said that on January 13, around 15.00, an officer was notified that there was a woman who was hurt in front of a grocery store in Bornam village, Moomon, Muang, she was a Miss Supawadee Boonchot, 24 years old she was soaked in gasoline and had been set on fire. She was seriously injured so the rescuers from Nongsamrong municipality rushed her to Udornthanee medical center hospital.

After asking witnesses they said that her and her boyfriend were arguing and Mr.Baramee the boyfriend started to beat her up. He then soaked her in gasoline and set fire to her a local witnessed the incident and tried to help the girl but the boyfriend threatened him with a knife. Mr Baramee then tried to take her shirt off but he couldn’t and rode away on his motorcycle.

At 15.00 on January 15, the detectives knew where he was hiding and arrested him in a field in Bannonyang, Kudsa, Muang.
He pledged guilty and claimed he did it because he was jealous, because she was always lying to him and went out with other guys. He said he just wanted to threaten her but the fire turned really bad so he tried to pull her shirt off, but burnt his hands and when he saw he could not help her he fled.
