The main purpose of the event derived from a direct instruction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that wants to raise the standard of rice growing industries to be on the same par as Thailand’s rice growing neighboring countries.

The Minister in charge has also advised rice producers from 19 provinces in the Eastern Seaboard region to carefully select before appointing a rice refining factory to carry out the task in order to ensure good quality and standard as laid out by the department. The Minister has also granted those rice producers to establish their own brand names of jasmine rice.

Above all, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is planning to promote Thai Jasmine rice industries nationwide. Visitors to Thailand will have a chance to sample what real Thai jasmine rice really tastes like by going to one of the fairs that will be organized periodically.

The event of the rice promotion will commence in tourist areas along the eastern seaboard, namely Chonburi, Chantaburi, Trad, Rayong, Chachoengsao and Nakorn in neighboring towns the vicinity. The main activity of the fair consists of a Mini Exhibition, displaying regional products that are locally produced and brands of jasmine rice products, as well as the introduction of newly produced brands and various distribution points of sales of rice factories that have been approved of high quality and standards.

The whole event has gained a lot of supports from various big and small retailers and distributors, restaurants and supermarkets giant Tesco Lotus. The organizers hope that the success of the event will open up a niche market for further development in the rice farming products and open up more market for Thailand a chance to compete with its rice growing neighboring countries.
