Thai Events Attracting Toursist Attention

Local Thai events are attracting growing interest from tourists. This became particularly noticeable during recent events, such as Bang Saen Retro 2011, and the recent Chinese New Year celebrations. They also provide colour to local culture and provide some further activities to add to the rich menu of “things to do and see in Pattaya”.

Pattaya, 11th February 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]. At 21.00, Mr Sonthaya Khunpluem, former Minister of Tourism and Sports, chaired the opening event of Bang-Saen Retro 2011, which took place on Bang-Saen beach on a multi-purpose platform. Mr. Narongchai Khunpluem – president of the Saen Suk Municipality dressed up as a soldier ‘Major Prachak’ was surrounded by girls dressed as Star characters of Channel 3.

 

The group of perfoming artists singing old songs got tourists joyfully dancing along with the Thais.

This year’s event has seemed to draw increased tourists’ attention, including tourists who joined the event and tourists who were alking by and stopped to take a look.

 

In this year’s event, 2 platforms were laid ou; one for dancin, and the other one for passers-by to watch the event. Tomorrow the event will continue with a concert featuring famous Thai bands, including Kiriboon, who will be making sure of the best entertainment at the event.
