SATTAHIP – January 16, 2013 [PDN; at 12:30 a.m., the arrests of a drug-dealing couple were made by Mr. Phawat Lertmukda, the sheriff of Sattahip; along with Mr. Chawat Teptup, security general secretary; and Special Operations officers from the National Command Center for Drugs.

The arrests took place in house number 69/9 moo, Samukkee village 9, moo 7, Plutaluang, Sattahip. The suspects were identified as Mr. Metha Nuamcham or Nong, 26 years old; and Mrs. Worraporn Piantham or Nam , 26 years old, a husband and a wife.

The couple is charged with possession of Type-1 drugs with the intent to sell. Police seized the evidence of 2 tablets of meth, and 600 baht banknotes that police used to entrap the criminals.

Mr. Pawat Lertmukda, Sattahip District sheriff, said that the arrests resulted from a follow-up investigation from a previous drug arrest. The suspect in that case had told police that he received his meth from Mr. Metha, a.k.a. Nong Saklai (which means “tattoo”).

So the police planned to send 2 spies to entrap Mr. Metha, and arranged to buy 2 tablets of meth for 600 baht in his house. As the police forces arrested the suspect with his wife, they found the entrapped bank notes had been thrown on the top of their cloth cabinet.

When police questioned Mr. Metha, he confessed that he and his wife had been selling drugs for several years, because they had no education degrees. The money they got from selling drugs was used to support their family, he said.

Mr. Metha told police that their meth supplier was a “Mr. Tum,” a 27-year-old dealer living in Banchang Rayong.
