Pattaya, 5 May 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 6.00 p.m., the rescue officers rushed to Amorn Seafood Restaurant, North Pattaya to attend to an elevator accident as informed earlier.

Yongyut Prakobsook, who worked as a part-time waiter during his school holiday, was jammed in the elevator door, between first and second floor.

When viewed from the second floor, his body from shoulders to feet is visible but his neck is jammed at the door threshold leading to first floor, a rescue officer described.

The official added that the victim was still conscious and able to communicate, although his left temple was bleeding.
As a rescue strategy, the team was divided into two groups, one on the first floor and the other on the second floor.
The team on the first floor used the Jaws of Life tool to force the elevator door upwards releasing the victim’s head, while the group on the second floor extracted the body with care.

As soon as Yongyut was extricated, the paramedics put a brace around his neck before applying the oxygen mask and took him to Pattaya Memorial Hospital in the ambulance, the rescue officer said.

The victim’s friend, Pattana Supap, 14, came to the incident immediately when a staff yelled out that someone was trapped in the elevator.

Pattana rushed to the second floor and saw that the elevator’s suspension wire was broken.

He grabbed hold of the cable immediately to sustain the door opening until help arrived, Pattana reported.
The daughter of the restaurant’s owner, Nonthaporn Rojakulpruet said there had never been an elevator accident like this since the opening of the restaurant 20 years ago.

The cause of the accident is unclear, she said.

However, Nonthaporn ensured that this incident will not occur again and that her father will always take great care of his employees
