Responding to a report received by Pol.Maj.Withaya Yuen-yong, of Pattaya Police, at 2.30am, on April 15, a police team arrived outside the hotel to find a man detaining high school student, Anuwat Phrommetta aka Hlee, (18), and another teenager, Theeraphong Rung-saeng aka Nat (14), both from Mahasarakam province. Police confiscated a black Yamaha Mio motorbike, used in the crime, a red shoulder bag containing Bt 670 cash, a Nokia mobile phone and some cosmetics belonged to the victim.

Later, police interviewed Miss Janjira Phea-Phue, (20), the victim, a go-go girl from Sakura 69 Bar, Walking Street, from Ubonrachathani province. In a tearful and frightened state, Miss Janjira told Pattaya Police that, after finishing work, she and two other friends had gone by motorbike, intending to have something to eat in Soi Nernplabwan, with her bag resting on her lap.

They were riding along Pattaya 2nd Road and stopped at the traffic lights, with the two teenagers, both wearing full helmets, following close behind; Anuwat driving and Theeraphong riding pillion. At the moment the traffic lights turned green, the teenagers drew alongside, Theeraphong grabbed her bag and the pair sped away. Miss Janjira screamed out for help. Fortunately, a vigilante nearby chased after and finally caught the two thieves with the evidence in North Pattaya.

Police later discovered that Anuwat Theeraphong are relatives and on school holiday. Theeraphong had never been to Pattaya before. Both of them confessed to grabbing Miss Janjira’s bag and escaping to fund their revels during the Songkran holiday.
