PATUMTHANI – March 9, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 16.00, the tragedy happened in a house on Semafakram Rd. Prachatipat, Thanyaburi, Patumthane. Police.Lt.Col. Kittinan Khantawong, the police officer on shift at Pratunam Chulalongkorn police station, Thanyaburi, received the reported triple killing, so he went to the house with Pol.Col. Trakook Kiaoprasert, director of the police station with the detective officers, rescuers from Ruamkatanyu foundation, and a medical team from Prachatipat hospital.

When the police reached the 2 storey house, they found the 3 bodies. Two were on the same bed, the third lying on the floor, the father’s 9mm Glock gun dropped close by his right hand. The bodies were identified as being Mr.Phanuwat Sornprom, 44 years old, the second was Mrs.Yaowalak Sornprom, 41 years old, and their younger son, Mr.Pattarayut, 16 years old. Each body was found with a bullet to the head.

The police were able to interview the elder brother, a Mr.Akkrawat, 18 years old. He recalled that the family had eaten together the previous evening, but he had then gone to university early the following day. It wasn’t until his return in the afternoon, that he became concerned when he couldn’t access his parent’s bedroom. With a neighbour’s help, he was able to pry the door open, only to find his family dead.

Asked for any reason as to why his brother might have slain the family, Mr Akkrawat suggested that his brother was feeling unloved. He was constantly arguing with his parents about school work, playing too many computer games, and about them having confiscated his phone. That said, the parents had bought the son a condominium recently. However, the son felt that he wasn’t getting the same love and attention as his brother.

Pol.Col.Trakul said that he expected the tragedy had occurred as the remaining brother had suggested. However, in order to rule him out of any further investigation, Mr Takul took the 18 year old to the police station to check for gun powder residue.
