BANGLAMUNG – March 12, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1 a.m., the arrest of a drug courier was made by Pol. Maj. Capt. Suriya Khiaolalim, vice suppression inspector of Nongprue, Banglamoong, Chonburi; with police forces and police volunteers of the security guard box of Khao Talo.

The suspect was identified as Mr. Nattaut Tongum or James, 19 years old, living in Chompoo, Nernmaprang, Pissanuloke. Police seized the evidence of 300 tablets of meth, and 31.7 grams of ice in 6 sealed plastic bags. Police also seized a blue Ryuka RK 110 motorcycle driven by the suspect.

During questioning, the suspect admitted he had been carrying the drugs, which he received them from a drug dealer whose real name he did not know, who called himself “Dee.” The dealer Dee had called and told Mr. Nattaut to retrieve the drugs that someone had thrown in the jungle beside the street of Sangwilai market, before three junction, soi Nonghin, near a furniture shop.

The drugs were hidden in 4 packs of snacks, and Mr. Nattaut’s job was to deliver them to the clients in Pattaya and nearby. For today’s delivery, Mr. Nattaut had to throw the drug snacks near the wall of Muang Pattaya 7 school in soi Nonghin. Then a new dealer would retrieve the drugs to sell again.

Mr. Nattaut said when he took the job to deliver drugs for money, he was required to make a total of 5 deliveries before getting paid. But he had done the deliveries only twice before being arrested.

The police did not believe Mr. Nattaut, and suspect he is part of a big gang of dealers operating in the area. They informed him that he will be charged with illegal possession of Type-1 drugs (meth and ice), and then sent him to prosecute. Police will continue to investigate and expand the case to find all of the other people involved in the drug dealing network.

Pol. Maj. Col. Suriya Khiolalim said that the suspect was caught due to the manpower of the police forces and police volunteers that he brought to set up checkpoints at soi Nonghin. Officers were instructed to find and check for illegal items, until police found the suspect, who looked suspicious as he rode his motorcycle. So the police stopped him for a search.

At first the officers did not see anything wrong, until they unpacked the 4 snack bags in the motorcycle’s front basket. When they squeezed it, they saw a transparent tape snap out. So they checked inside the package and found the meth and ice.
