Teen Acrobat & Dancercise Pattaya Championship 2010

The “to be number one” Teen Acrobat & Dancercise Pattaya Championships 2010 opening was held on Sunday at Pattaya’s Royal Garden Plaza. The competition designed to help the youth of the region avoid the ever increasing drug problems plaguing Thailand, promoted the benefits of becoming involved with extracurricular activities.

Pattaya, the 13th of June 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 3:00pm on the events stage at Royal Garden Plaza, Pattaya City Mayor Itthiphol Khunpluem chaired the opening ceremony of the “to be number one” Teen Acrobat & Dancercise Pattaya Competition 2010. Also present at the grand opening was Pattaya’s Deputy Mayor Weerawat Khakhai and the Royal Garden Plaza General Manager Mr. Somphorn Narkseutrong, both honorary guests at the event.

The anti-drugs project, aimed at promoting extracurricular activities to the youth of the region was organised fundamentally by Her Royal Highness Princess Ubol-Ratana Ratchakanya who is also the president of the project. Due to the ever increasing drug problem affecting the youth population in Thailand, competitions and activities such as the dancercise event have been organised to aid spreading the benefits of extracurricular activities and sports to the youth whilst putting on a fun and entertaining spectacle for the general public.

In an effort to tackle the flailing Thai economy, social divisions, environmental awareness and heal the political divide, competitions such as the “to be number one” dancercise event are thought to be essential in promoting Thailand’s ambition and development as a nation. Pattaya City administrators have become increasingly more concerned by the drug issues plaguing the region taking it upon themselves to become more proactive in preventing the further spread, by targeting school-aged children for involvement in activities and sports.

Her Royal Highness Princess Ubol-Ratana Ratchakanya, taking an active role in drug prevention decided that promoting creative extracurricular activities such as the Acrobat & Dancercise Competition was an ideal way to steer the youth of the nation away from drugs and substitute physical exercise and activities as an alternative. In conjunction with the Public Health and Environment Department of Pattaya the “to be number one” Acrobat & Dancercise Pattaya Competition was born.

The entertaining competition was separated into 4 age categories; Junior (3-9 years), Pre-teenage (10-13 years), Teenage (14-18 years) and Senior (19+ years).
