PATTAYA – April 12, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1.00 a.m.; a journalist reported that Mr Phiphop Thongnoi, a taxi driver notified the investigation officer at Pattaya police station, Chonburi province, that before the incident occurred in the evening of April 11, 2014 he was driving a pink Toyota Altis taxi cab, license number Thor Sor 1686 Bangkok and was taking a passenger to Pattaya and then would drive back to Bangkok but when he arrived at the entrance to Walking Street then he found 1 lanky (tall and thin) Thai man, aged approximately 25-30, he had curly long hair and amputated index and middle fingers of his right hand flagged down his cab.

The man then told the taxi driver that he was a clerk of one well-known hotel in central Pattaya and his name was Peek and told Mr. Phiphop (the taxi driver) that there was a foreigner who want book a taxi from Pattaya city to his girlfriend’s house in Roi Et province and will pay 12,500 THB but the foreigner would pay the taxi driver only 9,000 THB and the 3,500 THB he would pay to Mr. Peek so Mr. Phiphop the taxi driver believed him. Once inside the taxi Mr Peek claimed that he was a relative of “Mike Phiromphorn” who is the famous pastoral (country song / folk song) singer of Thailand and the beloved singer of Thai construction workers.

On the way they stopped to eat food on Pattya third road because the foreign customer wasn’t ready yet. After they finished eating they drove to a Hotel in Central Pattya to collect the foreign customer where Mr Peek told the taxi driver Mr Phiphop give him 3,500 THB and gave Mr Phiphop the bill (invoice) that Mr. Peek wrote and told Mr. Phiphop to give the bill to the foreign customer after he dropped him off in Roi Et province, therefore Mr Phiphop gave the 3,500 THB to Mr. Peek who said I’ll go and get the customer and walked off into the hotel but never came back. Mr Phiphop knew that he was cheated.

The police revealed that there have been almost 30 taxi drivers who have reported the same crime with the same description and the name of the suspect is always the same. The police have commanded a detective police team to watch out for the suspect in areas where he likes to flag down taxis and if anyone has any information on the whereabouts of the suspect they should call the Police immediately.
