Taxi Drivers Arrested For Occupying Parking Area On Beach Road

Banglamung sheriff led a team to arrest taxi drivers who had occupied prohibited parking areas on Pattaya beach road. They also instructed that the taxi rank to be dismantled immediately.

PATTAYA – April 9,2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; in the afternoon Mr.Sakchai Tangho-the sheriff of Banglamung-was accompanied with administrative agents, transportation agents and Pattaya police to patrol public mini bus stops around Central Festival Pattaya Beach.

A group of taxi laws less drivers had been occupying the prohibited area in front of the department store which is a bus stop even though the area is usually patrolled. Some drivers fled the scene, however, Somyot Boonsai-a taxi driver was arrested due to parking in the prohibited area.

Officers have continuously tried to control this area but there are still offenses being comitted. It is not only the officer’s duty but it is also the public’s duty to inform Banglamung district or department of land transport if they see these type of offenses being committed -said Mr.Sakchai Tangho.

Mr.Kosin Veerananthanapan-chief of Banglamung department of land transport- said that taxi drivers will be prosecuted and their taxi licence with be cancelled if found guilty of committing parking violations.

The permanent bus stops were installed next to the foot path which is on the public high way in front of the department store. Upon questioning the owner of the taxi rank he claimed that they were the old ones which had been installed for a long time, however, they need to dismantle with immediate effect.
